Banh Mi Tres Bon
As soon as you step through Banh Mi Tres Bon’s doors, one thing will immediately stand out: its charming French-style decor and cozy interior design. Walls painted light blue provide the backdrop for comfy armchairs to sit upon – something which hits home at Banh Mi Tres Bon.
Chef Lan Do takes great pride in offering both Vietnamese and French dishes on her menu, which honors the fusion between Vietnam and France. Quality ingredients are top priority when creating each of her signature banh mi sandwiches, noodle soups, or sweet desserts – something she is very passionate about serving up for customers!
Their pho is absolutely delicious; they take pride in simmering beef bones for hours to create its distinctive broth flavour. Their banh mi has an irresistibly crispy golden-brown crust paired with a soft interior. All meats and fillings are homemade in-house of the highest quality while their bread’s texture allows it to hold in liquid ingredients well.
I tried the three mini banh mi sampler featuring braised pork belly and Vietnamese ham, grilled lemongrass chicken, and pork meatball – I really enjoyed the pickled daikon and cucumbers as well! While I would have preferred more moist bread overall it was absolutely delectable!
Dessert options at The Sweet Lounge include caneles (a small French pastry with a caramelized crust) and character macarons that change regularly. I enjoyed sipping their Smooth Landing cocktail made up of plum wine, rambutan juice, ginger, jalapenos and plum cordial. Plus they offer coffee as well as premium TWG teas!
Kam Do Bakery
If you love Chinese baked goods, Richmond’s own bakery should not be missed. Their legendary wife cakes (laminated flakey pastry encasing sweet, candied winter melon filling) and century egg pastries are beloved treats; plus there are other unique and imaginative offerings sure to tickle your tastebuds!
Bakery offers many delicious items on its menu, such as steamed baos (baked buns filled with meat and vegetables), pork floss and seaweed bao, deep fried sausage and pork puff bao and many others. In particular, their signature roasted squab dish is highly sought-after! There are two locations of their restaurant located in Richmond as well as one located in Vancouver Chinatown under their motto of providing warm hospitality, superior quality and great value.
